20 Feb 6 Government Troops Round Up NPA’s Total Captives
With the capture of two government troops at a rebel checkpoint in the province of Davao Oriental last February 14, 2017, Tuesday, the New People’s Army now currently keeps 6 captives all in all. This followed after President Rodrigo Duterte’s declared to end the peace talks between the administration and the rebel leaders.
In a report from Inquirer, according to a statement coming from NPA Southern Mindanao spokesperson Rigoberto Sanchez, the rebels had a checkpoint set up in the village of Don Mariano in Lupon town, Davao Oriental where militiamen Carl Mark Nucos, 24, and Rene Doller, 34, were captured. Both from the Army’s 72nd Infantry Battalion.
It can be recalled that last February 1, 2017, Pfc. Samuel Garay and Sgt. Solaiman Calocop were captured in the town of Columbio in Sultan Kudarat.
