08 May Gov’t to Reimpose ECQ on GCQ Areas That Fail to Observe Measures Against COVID-19
On Thursday, May 7, 2020, Martin Diño, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs, said that the government may consider reverting areas that are currently under general community quarantine (GCQ) back to enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) if residents fail to observe health protocols.
Diño added that their agency will issue show cause orders to those local government units (LGUs) that fail in imposing strict precautionary measures.
This warning was brought up after getting reports from areas where ECQ was lifted, with residents breaking quarantine rules like physical distancing and the likes.
