A heartbreaking tragedy recently happened in Mindanao on the evening of February 5. Three children died in an explosion after playing with a grenade launcher ammunition in their house at Sitio Neptune, Brgy. Diatagon, Lianga Town, Surigao del Sur.

In a report by Sunstar, First Lieutenant Michael Pascua, civil military operations officer of the 75th Infantry Battalion (75IB), said that one of the victims, the three-year-old Renz Galdiano was playing around with an M203 grenade launcher ammunition at the terrace of their house, where the other victims- 1-year-old Reden Galdiano and 12-year-old Rynna Tiu, were also present.

The residents of the town then heard an explosion around 6:30 pm and later found the kids lying lifelessly on the floor.

As of now, the authorities are still investigating how the children got the explosive device, although, there is a big possibility that it was left by the New Peoples Army since the area is reportedly run by rebels.
