26 Jul Gusa Junior Spikers bags 17-under championship title in Lapasan tourney

In an article posted by Sunstar.com, the Junior Spikers from Barangay Gusa won the 17-under boy’s title after defeating the host barangay, Brgy. Lapasan in the Championship Games of the Inter-Barangay Volleyball Championships held at the Lapasan Plaza covered courts.
During the game, Gusa struggle on the first set against Brgy. Lapasan led by Omar Labuntog where a thrilling match ended with to 28-26 scores. Lapasan tried to win the second set as they pulled a 6-2 run before Gusa retaliated to close the gap.
Labuntog had another shot to balance the scores and Jonathan Cabataña scored two straight aces to give Lapasan a score of 20-18.
But, Cabataña made a faulty second service where it goes out of the line allowing Brgy. Gusa to tie the game in a 24-all and another add-two situation.
Brgy. Gusa won back with a block on the next play then followed by a spike attack courtesy of Elizardo Alvarado and ultimately leading to their victory.
There are three more remaining teams from Lapasan who are competing for the remaining division finals.
