12 Jul Higalaay Festival’s “Kumbira 2017” cancelled
In an article from Sunstar.com, CdeO’s annual culinary competition and trade show “Kumbira” was cancelled as one of the big events for this year’s “Higalaay Festival”.
Kumbira is an annual and a three-day activity held during the feast month of Cagayan de Oro City in August and usually participated by professionals and students coming various schools.
City Councilor Jay Roa Pascual who is also co-chairman of the City Fiesta Executive Committee refused to name the sponsors.
Reasons for the cancellation of the activity are the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Department of Education (DepEd)’s mandate on the prohibition of field trips outside school premises.
Last July 11, it was confirmed that this year’s installment of Kumbira in the Higalaay Festival was canceled due to unforeseen events.
On the other hand, Pascual clarified that all other events in this year’s CdeO Fiesta will push through.
