Hotels & Resorts Required to Secure DOT Certification Before Resuming Operations Under MGCQ

According to Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat of the Department of Tourism (DOT), tourism stakeholders such as hotel and resort entrepreneurs, are required to secure a certification before they resume their operations under the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

All accommodation establishments are reminded to apply for a DOT Certificate of Authority to Operate prior to going back to business.

Those that fail to secure such certification may be subjected to relevant penalties under applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Note the following:

  • The certificate application is FREE.
  • DOT-accredited hotels and accommodation establishments are only required to submit a Letter of Intent to Operate to the DOT Regional Office.
  • Non-DOT-accredited hotels and accommodation establishments are required to apply for accreditation to ensure that they comply with the basic requirements.
