20 Jan House Approves New Non-Contact Filipino Way Of Greeting On Final Reading
Mga higala! The House of Representatives has approved a bill institutionalizing a new Filipino way of greeting or showing respect (as an alternative to “mano” and handshakes) on its third and final reading!
This measure, House Bill No. 8149 or the “Bating Pilipino Para sa Kalusugan Act”, proposes a safe non-contact way of greeting through the act of laying one’s palm of the right hand at the center of the chest while lowering the head, with eyes either closed or cast down. (see photo below)
This new greeting aims to help reduce the ways of transmitting communicable diseases like COVID-19.
