02 Sep House Committee Approves Bills Seeking To Officially Change USTSP Name To USTP
Mga higala! The House Committee on Higher and Technical Education has approved a bill seeking to officially change the name of the:
University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTSP)
to
University of Science and Technology of the Philippines (USTP)
According to the said bill, House Bill 1456, the “Southern Philippines” part of the current name gives the impression that the university only caters to and focuses on individuals from the southern part of our country, even though its faculty and facilities serve students and others from all over the nation.
“In fact, the excellent performance of the University of Science and Technology of the Southern Philippines today in all areas, especially in Mechanical Engineering August 2022 exams wherein it ranked 4th nationwide, makes it very clear that it is at the forefront in the delivery of science and technology courses in the entire Philippines,” said bill author, Rep. Rufus B. Rodriguez.
