NMMC

Mga higala! The House of Representatives has recently approved on third and final reading a bill increasing the bed capacity of the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) in Cagayan de Oro City from 600 to 1,200!

The said measure– House Bill No. 7974, was authored by CDO Rep. Rufus Rodriguez and aims to enable NMMC to “expand its services to more residents in Cagayan de Oro and Northern Mindanao especially at this time of pandemic.”

Once approved by the Senate, this will allow NMMC to not just increase its bed capacity but will also let them further improve their workforce and equipment.

Over P2 billion of budget can then be brought in by the said bill, which is also twice the amount NMMC’s current budget, and will give them the capacity to hire “more doctors, nurses and medical practitioners” and “more budget for maintenance and medicines and have more high rise buildings”.
