25 May House Panel Endorses Conversion Of COBSAT To Cagayan de Oro Polytechnic Institute
Mga higala! The House Committee on Rules has endorsed for “plenary consideration” a bill (House Bill No. 8418) that aims to convert the Cagayan de Oro (Bugo) School of Arts and Trades (COBSAT) into a vocational school named the Cagayan de Oro Polytechnic Institute (COPI)!
This conversion would mean more budget from the national government, more technical and vocational courses, buildings, instructors, and a lot more slots for students.
COPI will then be under the supervision of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
According to Deputy Speaker and 2nd District Rep. Rufus Rodriguez, COPI will be established as a globally competitive institution that will give its graduates diverse opportunities in the domestic and international labor market.
The school will also contribute to Cagayan de Oro City’s economy.
