12 Dec IBP MisOr Opposses Martial Law Extension

Various organizations have already expressed their opinions against the 1-year extension of martial law in Mindanao. One of these groups is the Integrated Bar of The Philippines MisOr Chapter.
IBP MisOr CDO Chapter President Atty. Eddie Cuaresma declared that the president doesn’t have any valid reason to prolong the implementation of martial law. Especially due to the fact that the Maute group rebellion has been dealt with and is no longer a threat. Further enforcement of this law won’t be fair to our citizens and will not conform to the constitution.
Cuaresma also added that he challenges the President to use his “call out power” in order to eliminate lawless elements instead of pursuing the “batas-militar”.
According to Cuaresma by using the “call out power”, President Rodrigo Duterte can command our soldiers to extinguish any possible threat and prevent further recruitment and re-grouping.
