Investigations on the tax anomaly which happened in the Misamis Oriental Phividec ecozone have been rolled out last Monday, August 14, as ordered by Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.
In an article from Manilatimes.com, newly appointed Phividec Administrator Franklin Quijano said that the transition team has revealed a lot of issues discovered in the government-run agency. He also said that a speedy disposition on the probing is needed so that an objective appreciation can be established.
Former Cagayan de Oro Congressman Benjo Benaldo and current member of the Phividec board exposed the multi-billion tax scam scandal regarding unpaid real property taxes and rentals involving big corporations in the country such as Steag Power, Mindanao International Container Terminal (MICT), and the Philippine Sinter Corp. among others.
