29 Jun First Novel of Kagay-anon Author Kristyn Maslog-Levis to be Published by Anvil, Publishing Arm of National Book Store
Earlier this year, 2016, Kagay-anon Annie Gora’s book entitled “The Mystery on 17th Street” was published by Manila-based publishing company Anvil Publishing Inc. which then became available in National Book Store branches on April. Yet today, another book from a Kagay-anon author named Kristyn Maslog-Levis was published by the same publishing company.
Published with the title “The Girl Between Two Worlds”, the said book is Kristyn’s third book, with the first two namely “The Dragon and the Lizard” and “We Have It All (A True Story)” were self-published children’s books.
Set to be released in July this year, “The Girl Between Two Worlds” will also be distributed by National Book Store.
To give you an idea of what Kristyn’s third book is all about, below is an excerpt.
“The day after Karina’s sixteenth birthday, supernatural things start to happen around her and she has no idea why. Her mother, who disappeared soon after they migrated from the Philippines to America, speaks to her in prophetic dreams. Stranger still is the old man who turns up at her house one day and claims to be her grandfather, even though Karina’s mother had told her he died a long time ago.”
“Karina discovers that her mother is an engkanto princess who ran away from Engkantasia. Karina is now of age to take the throne and must do so to prevent a war between Engkantasia and the human world. She must learn to control her powers and fight a range of weird creatures trying to kill her and her family. To make matters worse, she finally meets a boy she likes and there’s something about him she can’t quite figure out.”
Just like Annie who formerly worked with broadcast and media for Newscope and Frontline Mindanao, Kristyn also worked with ABS-CBN TV Patrol Northern Mindanao as a field reporter and the first journalist to reach the captured rebel camp in Sultan Gumaner in Lanao del Sur way back in 2000. Kristyn also worked as a host for shows, acted as a script writer for some TV specials in Dumaguete City and became a part of a weekly health talk show by the Department of Health.
