22 Sep Kagay-anon Cuber Sets New Record in National Rubik’s Cube Competition
With a combination of hand speed and fast mechanical solving skills, Kagay-anon cuber Renz Alexander Lumban sets a new Philippine record of 11.05 seconds for the Rubik’s cube one-handed single solve category in the Philippine Cuber’s Association’s Philippine Championships 2017.
In an article from GMA News Online, record-setters in the competition include Davao City’s Edgar Elevado Jr. who finished 30.23 seconds, posting a new Asian record for Rubik’s Cube with Feet. Also, Mharr Justhinne Ampong clocked in 1.63 seconds in the single solve Skewb Category.
Bringing home the championship trophy is Jay Benedict Alfaras of Bacolod City who pinned an average 9.28 seconds during the final and main event of the competition with Ampong (9.92 seconds) on the second spot and Cavite’s Nathaniel Ortega (9.96 seconds) on the third spot.
In addition, Alfaras set a record of 51.73 seconds for 5x5x5 Single Solve Category and Ortega for Rubik’s Cube One-Handed Average Category of 14.18 seconds.
