10 Jul Kagay-anon NGO to organize relief operation for Marawi victims
In an article from Sunstar.com, Non-Profit Organization (NGO) Modern Nanays of Mindanao is set to organize a relief operation for the victims of the crisis in Marawi City.
An official from Modern Nanays of Mindanao said that while relief goods operations are still going on at different evacuation centers, the growing concerns of not being able to provide healthy foods to the evacuees will be the focus of the effort.
With the tagline “Bente Para sa Marawi”, a campaign which will mobilize the relief effort involves groups or individuals who will make use of empty plastic bottles labeled with “P20 para sa Marawi”. The bottles will be stationed at certain locations where people can drop P20 as donations to fund the relief effort for the evacuees at Iligan City.
Modern Nanays of Mindanao Founder Nadine Angelica Casiño said that the relief program will focus on providing nutritious foods to infants and children who are usually only receiving canned and instant foods at evacuation centers.
According to Casiño, the collected P20 can already feed two children with supplementary meal and with the help from Nutritionist and Dietician Association of the Philippines (NDAP), the budget can feed around 110 persons for about P1,000 to P1,200 a day.
Casiño also added that the relief operation will be done in a daily basis which will run initially for two weeks at the Buruun School of Fisheries evacuation center.
If the flow of donations will be sufficient enough, the relief effort will be able to cover more evacuation centers in Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte.
