Kagay-Anons Show Off Organic Vegetables Planted on Uncommon Pots

Several residents of Cagayan de Oro promotes and advocates to plant organic, natural and fresh vegetables.

The Cagayan de Oro City government held its Urban Container Household Gardening Festival on December 6, Tuesday at City Hall mini-park. This festival showcases different plant pots from soda plastic containers to old clothes and rice cooker where Kagay-anons naturally grow their fresh vegetables.

Residents from Barangays 1-40 and Consolacion presented their  featured products on the festival.

It is also a project for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries to show to them that everyone can start their own vegetable garden despite the limited area at home.

City Agriculture Office urban agriculturist Joseph Borja said that the purpose of urban gardening is to lessen the food expenses.

Around 200 residents participated the event and who are also practicing urban gardening.

The government also provided lecture and seminar on how to recycle old and damaged things into plant pots and utilizing organic fertilizers.
