27 Jul Kagay-anon Jiovani “The Bus Driver” Jalalon Goes in a Clutch Performance, Winning Against EAC Generals
On Tuesday, July 26, the Arellano University Chiefs led by the best point guard in Philippine College basketball today, Kagay-anon Jiovani Jalalon, cruised past the EAC Generals with an 88-82 victory.
They are now holding a 4-2 record, tied with the reigning champion Letran Knights in the third spot.
The game is in a seesaw battle until the Chiefs had a 10-2 run to start the fourth quarter, leaving the Generals behind. Being down 66-62 from that time, they burst to a 72-68 lead that brought a momentum for the Chiefs until the end of the game.
It was the Duo of rookie big man Lervin Flores (20 Points, 15 Rebounds) and Jiovani Jalalon (15 points, 12 Assists, 3 Steals) that helped the Chiefs in their 4th victory in 6 games.
The Generals inched closer with less than 1 minute left in the game, trailing 85-82. But a floater from Jalalon dropped the dagger, bringing again the Chiefs ahead of two possessions over the Generals, taking the lead out of reach for EAC.
Jalalon did not just prove that he is a stat sheet stuffer, but he is also a clutch player when the game is on the wire. The sports analysts in the country made no mistake of picking Jalalon as the best amateur point guard in the Country today.
Arellano University Head Coach Jerry Codiñera is joyful about the win, saying, “It’s good to be back in the winning column. A win is a win, although it’s not a spectacular win.”
It was an important win for the Chiefs as they gain the composure back and they are again in a good standing to track down that Championship trophy in which they believe they can claim for this year.
