Kagay-anon Rookie Jio Jalalon, Leading Scorer for the Star Hotshots in the PBA

Jio Jalalon, a Basketball prodigy from Cagayan de Oro City is making waves in the PBA. In his first three games playing for the Star Hotshots, Jalalon showed how pesky he is in defense and how deadly could he get in the offense. He is their leading scorer!

Jalalon is averaging per game stats of 13.6 points, 2.0 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.33 steals. His efficiency from the court is impressive, recording 54% from the field, 40% from the Three-Point line and 75% from the free-throw line.

With this stats under his belt, he is the leading scorer per game for the Hotshots, tied with the All-Star guard Paul Lee. But, what is more astonishing is he is doing this off the bench, behind the veterans like Lee, former MVP Mark Barroca, and Highflying guard Justin Melton. His production is substantial.

Jalalon’s stats may be notable, yet the intangibles; hustle plays, deflections, and energy, are much more appreciated as he is giving the fans excitement in every fast-paced play he performs.

Talks of the rookie of the year award are still in doubt, as his fellow rookie Mac Belo playing for the Black Water Elite is averaging 21.0 points, 1.3 assists, 8.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and .6 blocks per game, a stat-line that is hard to notice.

But what’s amazing is Jio’s early impact in the league. His execution is as high as the expectations anticipated from him. Cagayan de Oro City has a new star rising, and it is not in the amateur league anymore, it is in the PBA!
