10 Oct ‘Killer Clowns’ Now in Cagayan de Oro? The Story Behind This Worldwide Prank
If you are active in social media, you may already know about the “Killer Clowns”? But did you know that it all started when a child living in South Carolina in the US told his mom last August 21, 2016 that he saw a clown staying along the wooded area near their house. His older brother then claimed that the clown rattled chains against their door, though their mother didn’t see a thing.
Soon, their Greenville apartment complex quickly became a venue for clown sightings and more children claimed that the clowns tried to lure and bring them to the woods.Though there were no physical evidence of the clowns found, adults believed that the panic was just nothing but of wild imagination.
Few days later, Caden Parmalee, 17, posted a video of a clown lingering in the woods near his home in Florida which went viral, then was followed by sightings up and down the East Coast. (Source: Rolling Stone)
Then it stormed the world with similar hoaxes and pranks. It became a craze in the US, and then in other countries.
The prank involves people to dress up as clowns and then scare or intimidate the public.
And in a Facebook Page named “The Clowns-Philippines”, a series of their posts mentioned Cagayan de Oro.
Though there were no reported sightings of the “Killer Clowns” in the city, but are they really in Cagayan de Oro already?
This prank may be an amusing phenomenon, however, it became increasingly dangerous mostly to the clowns themselves. In this generation where violence is just around the corner, this kind of prank can turn out wrong. In other countries such as Scotland, they have warned that action may be taken against people who take part in this craze. The people might as well be careful and become responsible in our own actions.
It is expected that this prank will continue until early November, with most of the people participating in upcoming Halloween parties with their clown costumes.
