Days after the bombings in the Belgium airport, law enforcement agencies warned international airports, Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and Laguindingan International Airport in Cagayan de Oro, for possible terror attacks. This was when two sources confirmed to the Manila Bulletin that they received an information from the Office of the Assistant General Manager – Security and Emergency Services or OAGMSES about terror plots in both mentioned airports.

“Just received a situation report from the OAGMSES regarding the ‘high threat’ for Manila and Cagayan de Oro airports. Heightened security precautionary measures are now being implemented by MIAA (Manila International Airport Authority) and PNPAVSEGRP (Philippine National Police – Aviation Security Group,” as told by one of the sources to Manila Bulletin. The said message was relayed to him last March 25.

Meanwhile, the second source stated that they received a confidential copy of the transportation security alert advisory coming from the Department of Transportation and Communication – Office of Transport Security which dated March 22 that warned airport officials of possible terror attacks in NAIA.

The said fresh terror warning wasn’t elaborated whether it was related to the intelligence report received by the government that involves six Yemeni nationals who were planning to direct terror attacks in Southeast Asia, which includes the Philippines, as tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia escalated due to the result of the executions of 47 people including Shia religious leader Nimr al Nimr last January 2.

Thanks for the information. I appreciate your concern. Just a note about your grammar: it’s “according TO” not “according FROM”.
