From protected virgin forests to marvelous water adventures, the Municipality of Initao in Misamis Oriental is one place to watch out for. Amidst the recent terror attacks in the nearby Muslim-dominated provinces, there is no stopping for this one heap of a paradise to be the next tourist destination in Mindanao. Posted on the Facebook page of the Provincial Tourism Office of Misamis Oriental is the newest promotional video for the Municipality of Initao, Misamis Oriental where it featured the beautiful countryside and other breathtaking sceneries of Initao.
How to get there?
From Cagayan de Oro City, travelers who do not have their own cars could either take a ride by metered taxi for about P600. For those who are on a low budget, you could also make the trip by riding a bus or van for about P85 only. A “Baja” can also be rented to reach to major spots in Initao.
Resorts and outdoor water adventures
Aside from the natural wonders found in Initao, the municipality also boasts of comfy accommodations and resorts tourists and visitors. One of which is the Minkay Restobar and Beach Resort at Midway White Beach where one can have a relaxing time with family, friends, and loved ones while traversing the long avenue of white and warm sand and the glistening surface of the beach water. Aside from the interactive kid’s playground and homy room accommodations, the resort also offers affordable water sports activities such as Banana Boat Riding, Fly Fish, Jetski Riding, Torpedo and Bullet Boat for individuals and groups with their Daborge Aquasports.
Also located in Midway, is Kinason Restaurant and Resort that is also endowed with pristine waters that will make one forget the heat of the sun. It is also perfect for family gathering and a good rendezvous with friends and with a loved one, plus, the transition of colors during the sunset is a thing to behold. Kinason Restaurant and Resort is also famous for its native chicken and seafood.
The fun along the wide stretch of Midway White Beach does not end as Moonbay White Beach Resort is also there to accommodate every visitor of Initao from a white sand beach to a compound of affordable room accommodations as though you never left far away from home.

Farms and Agritourism Spots
For those who are not a fan of basking under the sun while getting soaked in the beach water, here is Buhian Diversified Farm and Kitchenette located at Barangay Poblacion owned by a nature-lover couple, Engr. Edgar Buhian and Nemia Penita Buhian. It houses a 1.4-hectare wide land area of natural and organic farming. It is also home to livestock farming of farm animals such as duck, chicken, and pig among others. The farm is famous in Initao for giving importance to coconut plant cultivation wherein local and would-be farmers are encouraged into.
Another agritourism farm destination is the uphill Mkians Agri Tourism site where visitors can have a day’s relaxation while enjoying the display of agricultural products and foods.
Recreational Activity Sites
Are you the type who would go for extreme and physical adventures? The Kapsai Firing Range at Barangay Tawan-Tawan should be your next stop in your itinerary of activities while in Initao. You will not only get to sweat a bit while trying to aim at the center of the target board but more importantly, learn a new skill which comes handy for criminal attacks.
Restaurants and other venues for food trips
After a day’s worth of activities (or, perhaps, a workout), the next thing to do is to be hungry and eat. Luckily, Morning J Inn and Fastfood got it for you and has many varieties of our all time favorite Filipino meals.
Your next stop for another affordable yet delicious food trip is the Echavez Kitchenette. The store will take you to a one time trip of Filipino kakanins such as assorted “sumans” and “putos” and is also popular among visitors for its different seafood dishes especially their specialty “seafood curry”.
The third and fourth places to visit is the Bahay ni Kuya all around restaurant and bar and Lasang Echavez Kitchenette where various local products can be bought and enjoyed to eat.

While Initao is small municipality found in the outskirts of Misamis Oriental, it still has a lot to offer. It is just like any other places in the Philippines, you just have to look closer and you will discover something new and amazing.
