15 Feb Limketkai Sons Inc. Plans to Establish Casino

Limketkai Sons Inc. plans to develop a casino within its commercial complex here in Cagayan de Oro City.
According to a report from Sun.Star, Limketkai is already the second company who is interested in establishing a casino, next to I.F. Koresco Corp., a Korean hotel and leisure firm.
The proposed casino will be constructed next to the Limketkai Luxe Hotel in 5,377.22 square meters land.
Limketkai then submitted a letter requesting a resolution from the City Council to support and not to object to the project.
But then, several churches has objected to the proposed casino. Catholic Church has disclosed that it will no longer hold masses inside the Limketkai Mall once the casino is developed.
Meanwhile, Cagayan de Oro City Councilor Zaldy Ocon said that the planned casino can give jobs to unemployed Kagay-anons, adding that it will not only give higher revenue to the city but could also help the people.
However, before the City Council decides on this project, a public hearing will be held on February 17, Friday. The Roman Catholic Church, Iglesia ni Cristo, Iglesia Filipina Independiente, Born Again, as well as the Integrated Bar of the Philippines-CDO/MisOr Chapter, City Legal Office, and the proponent Limketkai Sons Incorporated, are expected to attend the hearing.
Ocon said that all be given the chance to take their stand and explain their position then due process will follow.
