In an article published by CDeO Infonet, the city government of Cagayan de Oro provided various livelihood programs such as sofa and lamp shade making to the inmates of the city jail facility.

This was done through the combined efforts of the administration of CDeO City Mayor Oscar Moreno, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Misamis Oriental Provincial Office and MAIKAP Foundation, and was materialized through the Hapsay Buhay Program.

According to Hapsay Buhay program coordinator Patrick Gabutina, the objective of the livelihood program is to keep the inmates busy while earning money for personal keep and for their family members outside the facility.
