LTFRB Finally Allows Standing Passengers For PUV Buses & Jeepneys

Mga higala! The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has announced that standing passengers are now permitted in public buses and jeepneys within areas under Alert Level 1!

According to their Memorandum Circular No. 2022-070, below are the allowed number of standing passengers:

LOW ENTRY/LOW FLOOR PUBLIC UTILITY BUS (PUB)

  • max 15 standing passengers
  • at least 1 person apart

COACH-TYPE PUBLIC UTILITY BUS (PUB)

  • max 10 standing passengers
  • at least 1 person apart

MODERN PUBLIC UTILITY JEEPNEYS (MPUJ)-CLASS 2

  • max 5 standing passengers
  • at least 1 person apart

Buses, jeepneys, and operators who will not comply with this limit will receive the set fines and/or penalties.

BTW, despite this development, minimum public health safety protocols vs COVID-19 will still be strictly implemented.
