Mga higala! Since LOWER TAXI FARES may soon be implemented in the region, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) of Northern Mindanao is now proposing an idea that will help taxi drivers and operators avoid additional expenses in recalibrating their taxi meters.

Based on a report from SunStar CDO, Regional Director Aminoden Guro expressed that it would be better to just implement a flat reduced rate that can be deducted to the total taxi fare, like a 20-peso discount, for taxis traveling within Cagayan de Oro City.

“The farther the taxi will go, the bigger will be the markdown. For instance, taxis going to the Laguindingan airport from the city may give their passengers a discount of up to P100.”

Guro also added that this is the most practical solution, instead of spending thousands of pesos for the reprogramming of taxi meters.
