The LTFRB wants motorists all over Mindanao to understand that the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program is still underway and will be fully implemented several years from now.

Sunstar.com.ph wrote that LTFRB NorthMin Allan Guro stated nothing will change in the government’s stand. He wants to stress that they still want to remove beat-up vehicles on the streets, especially the PUV’s.

As part of this program, drivers are currently given 3 years to replace their vehicles. Drivers are also required to procure those with higher passenger capacities to further lessen traffic.

The LTFRB also made an effort in contacting several suppliers to build these new PUV’s. The department even enacted a memorandum of understanding to reduce the prices in order to further assist motorists.

Guro also expressed that they are ready for any protests that will be thrown at them next week. They are confident that the transport group STAREX PISTON will not participate in this since they will be violating agreements otherwise.
