LTFRB Urges Passengers To Check Taximeters

In an article posted by Sunstar.com, the Land Transportation Regulatory Board (LTFRB)- Northern Mindanao reminded the public to make it a goal to check the meter of the taxi they are riding before paying additional charge as the LTFRB Central Office has recently approved the petition of taxi operators to add a little of the previous fare rate. According to the LTFRB-Northern Mindanao Regional Director Aminoden Guro, passengers must check the taxi meter if it was already appropriately calibrated to the new standard of fare rate and they must not also hesitate to ask about the increase of their fare. In addition, taxi drivers and operators must have their meters calibrated by private companies which the LTFRB will then check before they could take passengers. Taxi passengers are now to pay P13.50 for every kilometer. Also, taxi drivers are now allowed to charge their passengers P2 per minute of waiting time.
