06 May Mangudadatu Supporter in Maguindanao Killed – Clan Wars or Politically Motivated?
Lorenzo Talma, an active supporter of Maguindanao Governor Esmael Toto” Mangudadatu has been killed by 2 gunmen while riding in his motorcycle on Monday, May 2 in North Upi Town, Maguindanao.
The Police investigation of the case is still ongoing if the ambush is politically motivated or driven by clan wars.
Talma is a well-known supporter of North Upi Mayor Ramon Piang and re-electionist Governor Mujiv Hataman of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
It has also been known that the area has an active clan war through the years where the reason of the killing of Talma can be pegged too, despite the political activity of the victim.
Talma’s favored politician is rivaled by prominent Muslim leader Datu Ali Midtimbang, who is running under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) together with Mangudadatu’s rival, the great Ampatuan clan.
Talma belonged to the Liberal Party (LP) of Mangudadatu, Hataman, and Piang.
