05 Jun Maranao leader confirms Maute Group firearms were provided by local gunrunner
A member of the Maranao leaders group of Sautol Haqq said that a local gunrunner in Marawi has provided firearms to the Maute group days before the rebel group started the attack in Marawi City.
In a report from news.mb.com.ph, former President of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Lanao del Sur Chapter, Atty. Ganie Abubacar, said that the said firearms were bought using US dollar bills from a police character in the city.
The gunrunner, who was previously arrested by the NBI, was also a suspected firearms repairman for the Moro Islamic Liberation Front or MILF.
On one hand, Sautol Haqq requested for an independent commission which will delve deep into the violence and chaos following the attacks in Marawi and which will also facilitate the rehabilitation of the displaced families and the city as well.
Last Sunday, Sautol Haqq leader, Atty. Salic Dumarpa, spearheaded the call on the Philippine President to immediately stop the aerial attacks on the Maute hideouts in Marawi City.
The group of civic, religious, women and youth leaders laid the basis for their call to suspend the aerial attacks in the city:

“Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana’s claim that the AFP is in full control of 95 percent of Marawi City’s land area, as only sporadic resistance was coming from the terrorists groups of Maute, Abu Sayyaf and Bangsa Moro Islamic Freedom Fighters; the unquantifiable consequential damages of the war befall upon the shoulder of each and every resident of Marawi City, a great majority of whom are die-hard supporters and advocates of the policies of the Duterte administration; the poor people of Marawi cannot sustain a long stay at the different evacuation centers and friendly accommodations due to lack of heavy firing and; and with only sporadic resistance from the bandits, the Armed Forces can easily liberate Marawi from the barbaric attack.”
