Mayor Moreno Opposes Reduction Of Curfew Hours In CDO

Mga higala! Mayor Oscar Moreno has expressed that he is against the request of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) that encourages LGUs to adjust their curfew hours to 12 am-5 am!

“Kasabot ko that DTI wants the economy to recover but public health should not be compromised,” said Mayor Moreno.

He then emphasized that we should not follow the mistakes of other countries, where the opening of business establishments, especially bars, caused a spike of COVID-19 cases and deaths.

Moreover, Mayor Moreno added that it is his duty “to protect the health of the people”.

In case you don’t know, DTI requested the said curfew adjustment so that restaurants and fast-food chains could operate for longer hours.

The said agency even released DTI Memorandum Circular 20-39 which allows food establishments to increase their capacity and operate until 11 p.m. in areas under GCQ and MGCQ to “allow greater daily turnover of dine-in services and enhance income opportunities for workers.”
