02 May Megamouth shark found dead in Tagoloan

On May 1, 2017, residents from Barangay Baluarte, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental were alarmed when they found a dead megamouth shark at their shoreline.
According to an article from ABS-CBN News, it was estimated that the shark was 3 meters long, 1.5-meters wide and weighed approximately 600 kilograms. It was found out that the shark sustained a wound in its body. However, the reason behind its death is still vague.
Fishery Technician Designate of the Municipality immediately buried the fish that morning because they fear that the residents might cook it for food.
