23 Jun Military Chief suspects Maute leader killed in month-long Marawi standoff
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief-of-Staff Lt. Gen. Eduardo M. Año said that one of the Maute brothers, Omarkhayam Maute, who are alleged leaders of the Maute Islamic extremist group, might have been killed throughout the course of the standoff between state military and the terrorist-rebel group.
In an article from businessmirror.com, the Military Chief has reportedly said that there is a possibility that Omarkhayam Maute has already been killed by military troops while his brother and other Maute leader Abdullah Maute may have survived throughout the month-long standoff.
However, security officials are still in the process of validating of Lt. Gen. Año’s theories.
