The Secretary of Mindanao Development Authority (MinDa), Datu Hj. Abul Khayr D. Alonto, appeal to the public to refrain from spreading unfounded stories about the ongoing insurgency in Marawi City that could only make the situation worse.

In a post on Sunstar Davao Facebook Page, Secretary Alonto also called on the country’s government leaders to bring immediate help to those affected families and to deal with the perpetrators as soon as possible.

He also added that the organization condemns that attack done in Marawi by the Maute terrorist group who arrived in the city prior to the Holy Month of Ramadan.

In a separate article posted on Sunstar Davao, the public is warned about the dangers of posting photos and videos online that may reveal military position and compromise military operations.

Aside from the government, the organization also reminded everybody who are living in Mindanao to be vigilant enough and continue on the lookout for possible terrorist attacks.

MinDa fully supports the 60-days Martial Law declared by President Rodrigo Duterte and is ready to extend whatever help it can give to finally resolve the conflict in the island-region of Mindanao.

According to Alonto, the Mindanawans are a resilient people and believes that the current situation which led to the declaration of Martial Law by the President is something that everybody can overcome together.
