Mindanao Braces For Tropical Storm Vinta

After TS Urduja, Mindanao will once again experience another storm named Vinta days before Christmas.

Last night, December 20, 2017, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) placed Surigao Del Norte, Surigao Del Sur, Agusan Del Norte, Agusan Del Sur, Davao Del Norte, Compostella Valley and Nothern Davao Oriental under Storm Signal No. 1 due to TS Vinta.

UPDATE: Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, Cagayan de Oro, and Bukidnon were also placed under Storm Signal No. 1 this morning.

PAGASA stated that Vinta is packing winds of up to 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph as it moved westward at a speed of 20 kph.

Furthermore, the storm is expected to make landfall in Caraga-Davao Region between Thursday evening and Friday morning. This will affect most areas in Northern Mindanao.
