03 Oct Mindanao Tour Bus to be Realized By Year 2017
Mindanao Tour Bus, a program supported by the Department of Tourism (DOT) which will be launched by Davao Metro Shuttle, will be launched March of next year aimed to transport tourists all over Mindanao via missionary routes to tourist destinations.
We will have some 20 45-seater buses to serve this program. This will be a regular bus route except that we shall prioritize the tourist destinations,” said De Carlo Uy, president of Davao Metro Shuttle who disclosed that they have already invested some P100 million initially for the said program and that the buses were ordered from China, speaking before Davao reporters last September 30, Friday, at the Marco Polo Hotel.
The said bus’ route will start in Davao City going to Buda-Bukidnon-Cagayan de Oro-Butuan and then back to Davao. It features reclining chairs, TV screens, wi-fi, and restrooms.
Added by Uy, the said kind of bus program has already been popular in other Asian countries, “so why we can’t?”
The cost of availing the bus tourist services per passenger will be 1o to 15 percent higher compared to the regular price.
The Mindanao DOT offices, Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (Tieza), the Mindanao Development Authority (Minda), and the security have already started with the discussions regarding the bus program. And just last September 30, a formal partnership agreement has been inked between the DOT Mindanao Office, as the government lead partner in institutionalizing the program, and Davao Metro Shuttle. A memorandum of agreement will also be signed by DOT Secretary Wanda Teo and the mentioned government offices this month of October.
