The Misamis Oriental Provincial Jail (MOPJ) custodial force can now monitor the activities inside and outside the jail with these three installed CCTVs, Jail Warden Dominador Tagarda said.

Tagarda stated, “It is a big help to monitor activities of the inmates inside the jail facility, including the activities of the jail guards and the people passing by outside the compound.”

Nine more CCTV cameras will be installed starting this year until 2017 as planned by Governor Yevgeny Emano.

With these CCTVs, it will help the authorities prevent the smuggling of illicit goods such as illegal drugs inside the facility, Tagarda added.

As the authorities conduct several operations and raids these previous months in accordance to President Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs, several contrabands such as “shabu” and other drug paraphernalia were seized.

On August 28, an inmate identified as Jomar Itong, held a fellow inmate hostage. Itong refused to surrender in the four-hour negotiation with the authorities which caused his death.
