20 Sep MisOr Gov Emano Says Siltation Is Killing Corals And Marine Life

In an article posted by Sunstar.com, the Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano expressed his concerns in the alarming rate of effects of the siltation on the corals on seas in Northern Mindanao.
He said that the siltation coming from the mountains which flow down to rivers and seas after being drained by the rain are making corals and other marine lives susceptible to destruction.
While the provincial government is planning to open more sites for scuba diving in the province, it is also concerned with the problems of siltation nowadays.
Emano is hoping that the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and other government agencies to take action to solve the problem.
To date, there are 23 towns and two cities in the region with high potentials to be developed as water diving sites that can attract tourists and diving enthusiasts.
