09 Nov Mother and Her 2 Children Tested Positive for Zika Virus in Cavite
Cavite health officials declared a mother and her two children positive for Zika virus last November 3 after they tested positive for the mosquito-borne disease.
The victims were put in isolation in their house during the infective stage which runs for two weeks.
The mother, 38 years of age, and her son aged 12 years old were the first to show symptoms like that of a flu and went through tests at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine in the city of Muntinlupa, as said by provincial epidemiologist Dr. Nelson Soriano.
With the family members living in the same house, the mother’s 8-year old son was then later subjected to examinations and tested positive for Zika virus.
The three had no history of traveling abroad.
