Mga higala! A 31-year-old mother from Tangub City, Misamis Occidental, who may be suffering from postpartum depression (PPD), was arrested after she reportedly drowned her 11-month-old daughter, inside a dorm in Cebu City last Friday, July 26, 2019!

According to a report from Sunstar Cebu, the mother came to Cebu last July 25 to seek a doctor’s second opinion because the baby girl was sick and was having an “on and off fever”.

“They arrived here last July 25. They were accompanied by the suspect’s father, who said he had just gone out for around 20 minutes to buy potable water. When he came back, he noticed that his granddaughter was already missing,” said Police Senior Master Sergeant Erasmo Rosel Jr. of the Waterfront Police Station (PS3).

The suspect’s father then asked her where his granddaughter is, but she replied that she didn’t know.

He then checked the comfort room and found the poor baby inside a pail of water, head first.

Moreover, when the mother was asked what happened, she just replied, “There’s a demon here.”

(In case you don’t know, PPD or postpartum depression is a depression suffered by a mother following childbirth, typically arising from the combination of hormonal changes, psychological adjustment to motherhood, and fatigue.)
