30 Jul NBI Raids Warehouses Producing Fake Cigarretes, Candy, & More @ Tagoloan, MisOr
Mga higala! The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) of Region X, together with the Tagoloan Municipal Police, raided warehouse buildings inside the Phividec Industrial Estate in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, and confiscated fake cigarettes and menthol candies!
Various materials and equipment which were used in making the counterfeit products and some taxable goods were also seized.
According to Sunstar CDO, the owner, a Taiwanese national, was present during the raid but claimed that he had rented out the buildings to a Chinese national and that he had no idea about the counterfeiting activities.

The Taiwanese owner may face charges of violation of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines (RA 8293).
