13 Jul National Council on Disability Affairs Campaigns for “Accessible Tourism for All”
Last July 7, 2016 at the N Hotel here in Cagayan de Oro, “Seminar on How to Handle Persons with Disabilities in Tourism Industry” was recently held and attended by hotel and restaurant managers, resort and transport operators, tour guides and other accredited establishments of the Department of Tourism (DOT).
The said seminar is part of the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) campaign for an “Accessible Tourism for All” which was aimed to promote the National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) of the government, as well as other evenly important mandates and laws on disability among stakeholders and duty bearers.
During the seminar, acting executive director of NCDA Carmen Zubiaga discussed the right ways of handling customers with disability or persons with visual, hearing and mobility impairments while Chief Rizalio Sanchez, NCDA Information, education and Communication Division Chief provided information about the key mandates on the rights of PWDs or persons with disabilities.
Handled by executive director of Handicapped’s Anchors in Christ, Inc Dr. Enrique Ampo was the appropriate and practical ways in handling PWDs who and/or with orthopedically handicapped. Meanwhile, Cagayan de Oro City Council on Disability Affairs Chairman Kristine Mae Libot and Rolando Domaolao did the lecture and demo on handling PWDs who and/or with hearing and visual impairments respectively.
