30 Jun NEDA approves 1st phase of Mindanao Railway Project
In an article from Sunstar.com, the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board approved the 1st phase construction of the Mindanao Railway Project (MRP) last Tuesday, June 27, at the Malacañang Palace.
The Tagum-Davao-Digos Phase 1 segment of the MRP, with an estimated budget of P35.26 million, will be constructed under the supervision of the Department of Transportation (DOTr). Also, the railway segment will have a stretch of approximately 102.28 km from Tagum City, Davao del Norte to Digos City, and Davao del Norte and will start construction in 2018.
According to Dotr, the entire MRP has a total of 1,532 km stretch once completed and will connect Mindanao areas such as Davao Provinces, Iligan City, Cagayan de Oro City, General Santos City, and Zamboanga City.
Other NEDA-approved railway and urban community projects in the Philippines also include the Malolos-Clark Railway Project (PNR North 2); Cavite Industrial Area Flood Risk Management Project; Clark International Airport (CIA) Expansion Project; Education Pathways to Peace in Conflict-Affected Areas of Mindanao (Pathways); Australia Awards and Alumni Engagement Program–Philippines; Project Approval and Change in Financing of Chico River Pump Irrigation Project.
