05 Jun New Evidence Shows Pre-Symptomatic Patients Can Transmit COVID-19 & Infect Others
Mga higala! According to the DOH, there is new evidence that shows coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients without or has not yet exhibited any symptoms can already transmit the virus and infect other people!
“Experts have been saying in this recent evidence that pre-symptomatic transmission really occurs,” said Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire in a recent online media forum.
She also added that “May mga ebidensya na transmission occurs from patients who are lab-positive for COVID-19 but have no symptoms yet, or report that they have no symptoms but have very mild symptoms.”

Pre-symptomatic: incubation period or the time it takes for a person to develop symptoms after being infected, which can take up to 14 days.
Asymptomatic: people who have been infected but do not develop any symptoms whatsoever.
