03 Sep Newly Opened Establishments at the Consortium Building Where You Can Dine, Hang-out, Party and Sing Your Hearts Out
Now here’s a place that almost everyone seems to be familiar with and yet can’t remember where they’ve seen it. They probably passed it a hundred times and even glanced at it a few times, never realizing that this building is becoming a new hub in the restaurant and night scene industry in Cagayan de Oro City.
The new Consortium Building along Corrales Avenue Extension is almost wedged between two familiar landmarks: Gaisano City Mall and Capitol University, with Lifestyle District being a more familiar landmark. Many people also remember this area formerly filled with squatters and wooden eateries. Now, Consortium Building boasts of a tremendous lineup of restaurants, bars, and other entertainment establishments with more coming in the future.
For now, here are three new establishments that recently opened in Consortium Building:
1. The Voice Republic
Filipinos love to sing, and Cagayanons easily fall in love with the really good KTV lounges or bars, and The Voice Republic is proving to be a fast growing favorite among the locals who just want to belt out their stress over a microphone. This is the newest KTV bar and movie house to open in Consortium Building on the 3rd floor. It is owned by a corporation called the Highway Rider’s Company Ltd., the same owners of Biker’s Grill on the 1st floor. The front runners in this KTV and movie house business are still Mr. James “Jaime” Dango and Ms. Celeste Orquillas.
Today, The Voice Republic is becoming a growing popular hangout for even the younger generation as well as millennials and the older generations. Aside from being a KTV and movie house, it also features a live band every weekend with an entrance fee of PhP100 with a free bottle of beer. They also have a daily Happy Hour from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. with an entrance fee of PhP100. They also have exclusive KTV rooms for groups. You can either order and have it sent up to the room or take your dinner and drinks in advance at Biker’s Grill.
2. Ripples Diner and Café
This cute and quaint restaurant just opened on the 1st floor, on the left side of the building’s entrance.
It’s actually very noticeable even from the road because of the dominantly yellow color of the restaurant.
Ripples features really delectable meat, poultry, and vegetable Filipino dishes in its menu lineup.
Their desserts feature great international and local flavored cakes. They are open from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
3. The Gastro Pub
Just recently opened on the 2nd floor, The Gastro Pub is a cross between a restaurant and a British Pub. They’re open from 5:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
They boast of the Pub Pasta as their bestseller that can be paired with any drinks or as a meal by itself. Another bestseller is their Coco Katsu Curry, breaded deep fried chicken cutlet with curry sauce.
And they have their own version of sisig that they call Pork Jowl. They have a Happy Hour every 5:30 to 9:00 p.m., and they boast of serving the coldest beer in town, with beer buckets at only PhP270.
Aside from the usual local beers, they also serve a wide array of imported beers, especially beer from England. Last August 28, Gastro Pub celebrated Fiesta Festive Sultry Night and converted the place into an amplified DJ music bar.
The night featured music from FHM Model and Viva Hot Babe DJ Jennifer Lee and Team Amplified Cagayan de Oro’s very own DJ Bookie Quiblat, DJ Mark and DJ Lexter. Sundays at Gastro is usually an invitation for family day.
Conclusion
The Voice Republic, Ripples, and Gastro Pub are just the three recently opened establishments in the Consortium Building that shows the growing trend among Cagayanons towards gastronomy and the night scene entertainment. More establishments are bound to open in this so-called “one-stop shop building” that is growing into a gastronomic and entertainment building in the heart of Corrales Extension.
