NMMC Urges COVID-19 Survivors To Support Plasma Therapy & Help Other Patients

Mga higala! Dr. Bernard Julius Rocha, the liaison officer of the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) is now encouraging patients who survived and recovered from COVID-19, to support their experimental “Convalescent Plasma Therapy” and help other infected individuals!

ICYDK, this therapy is an experimental treatment that some doctors are using for people with severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The convalescent plasma can be extracted from the blood of those who recovered from the said disease, which contains antibodies that can help the body in fighting the virus.

This treatment aims to help COVID-19 patients in Region 10 and in other parts of the country.

However, not all recovered patients can donate plasma. The following requirements must be met:

  • recovery confirmation from COVID-19
  • no comorbidities
  • 18 to 65 years old
  • weight must not be below 50 kilos
