26 Apr NMRAA Delegation Placed 5th in Palarong Pambansa 2016
The Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA) has been honored by Misamis Oriental Governor Bambi Emano in their recent achievement in the Palarong Pambansa 2016 held in Albay.
The Region X team has an impressive campaign finishing 5th overall.
The group has collected a total of 25 gold medals, 24 silver, and 36 bronze. “They deserve all our congratulations. They fought with their hearts. They are no less good athletes than the rest of their counterparts from other regions. We should all be proud of what they achieved,” Governor Emano said. “Admittedly, however, if we desire for a better finish, there is a need for better facilities, more modern equipment, and good coaches to hone them into better performers,” he added.
Breaking it down, the elementary delegation snatched 17 golds, 15 silvers, and 18 bronze. While the secondary grabbed 8 gold, 9 silver, and 18 bronze medals in their belt.
The governor again urged his desire for development in the sports facilities and training that the region needs. He said, “We may have the right athletes. But we need them to be trained by the right people with the right equipment on the right facilities.”
Emano promoted the support of the private sector as this would involve a huge investment. Private organizations have already been sending plans into his office. Emano vowed to include sports and development as his top priority of concern if he would be given a chance.
The Governor ended with a solid note to the audience, “We do not participate in sports only for the competitions and the medals. This is an investment for a better future generation.”
