The Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) will once again use signal jammers to temporarily cut off mobile telecommunications during Translacion 2019, in order to prevent any bombing attempts from terrorist elements.
According to a report from the Philippine News Agency (PNA), Supt. Mardy Hortillosa stated that this is because the temporary blocking of reception of cell phone signals still remains as the most effective method.
Over 200,000 devotees attended the Translacion last 2018, and they are expecting this number to grow this year, so they are doing their best to employ more security measures.
Rest assured, this signal cut-off may not last for the whole day and will be restored once the authorities deem it to be safe.
