08 Jun Population in Northern Mindanao Reaches 4.69M as Released by the Census of Population
Composed of the provinces of Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, and urbanized cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan, Region X or Northern Mindanao has already reached a whooping 4,689,302 population as released by the Census of Population (POPCEN). Compared to the recorded data of 4,297,323 last 2010, the current population is 391,979 more as reported by the Philippine Information Agency.
Northern Mindanao ranked 8th with the biggest population among 18 regions in the Philippines with an average rate increase of 1.68 percent annually.
Having the biggest population among the five provinces in the region is Bukidnon with 1,415,226 taking the 30.2% of the total population in Northern Mindanao. On the other hand, Camiguin has the smallest population with only 88,478 comprising 1.9% of the total population the region.
Meanwhile, in terms of the population growth in urbanized cities, Cagayan de Oro was observed to be the fastest growing area in the region with a rate of 2.23%, following is Lanao del Norte with an annual growth of 2.05% excluding Iligan.
