04 Oct War on Drugs in NorthMin: Over 200 Deaths Within 3 Months
So far, over 200 individuals in Northern Mindanao have been killed in President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs.
30 of them were all suspects who were shot dead in anti-illegal drug police operations from July 1 to October 2, including the recent deaths of two suspects who were killed last September 30, 2016, Friday, in Barangay Macabalan identified as Jan Ben Rosagaran and Cliff Naqua. Earlier, Superintendent Surki Sereñas, Northern Mindanao police spokesperson, reported that there were 178 individuals who were killed ‘outside police operations’ as of September 8, 2016. 59 of them were drug-related, 5 suspected to be drug-related, and 50 to be non-drug-related.
Based on the data coming from the Northern Mindanao police office, the police forces have already mounted some 335 drug bust operations which then resulted in the arrest of 701 drug personalities. 325 of it come from Cagayan de Oro making the city with the most number of arrested drug suspects, followed by Iligan City with 120, Misamis Oriental with 79, Bukidnon with 68, Misamis Occidental with 40, Lanao del Norte with 32, and lastly, Camiguin with 7.
Tokhang, the anti-drug campaign of the government, made some 76,798 habitual drug users to surrender across Northern Mindanao. 23,828 of it come from the province of Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental then follows with 15,737, then Misamis Occidental with 14,479, Lanao del Norte with 12,342, Cagayan de Oro City with 5,307, Iligan City with 4,605, and Camiguin with 500.
