11 Jul Army Soldiers Ambushed by NPA Rebels in Tandag City
On July 11, Monday, members of the 4th Infantry Division of the Philippine army in Tandag City has been ambushed by the New People’s Army (NPA) while on their way in Carmen town to rescue PO1 Richard Yu Jr. who has been held captive by the rebels since July 5, this year.
The NPA claimed that there are a lot of wounded and dead soldiers in their surprise attack, but the military had other reports on their side, saying that there is only one wounded soldier on the attack and no deaths have been recorded.
While the military operations have been enhanced in the area of Surigao del Sur, the NPA also stated that they are also buffing up their offensive schemes to the military, thus creating a tight situation in the area.
